Age Action has launched its first Christmas single which it hopes will spread a little festive cheer, while raising much needed funds for its work with older people.
“Dare to Dream (This Christmas)” is written and performed by Dublin-based musician John Sadlier, who is lead singer with Hunting the Brave.
The band have had a great year supporting White Lies, being named ‘Homegrown Heroes’ on the hugely popular Dermot and Dave show on 98fm as well as being favourites with the audiences at Indiependence. The track is a catchy and unforgettable tune which showcases John’s panache for writing acoustic-based gems.
“One thing that is certain in all our lives, is that we are all going to get old,” John said. Christmas is an exceptionally tough time for older people who face loneliness throughout the year. When I wrote this song, I really wanted to use it to create awareness for those less fortunate than myself.”
“I couldn’t think of a better charity than Age Action and I am delighted to be working alongside them this year. If I help one person I will be glad I could make a difference.”
Age Action fundraiser Daragh Matthews said the charity was excited and honoured to be approached by John with the single. “It’s an opportunity for the public to download a very beautiful Christmas song, while also supporting our work with older people across Ireland,” he said.
The single can be downloaded from iTunes for 99c, with all proceeds going to Age Action. "Dare to Dream (This Christmas)" can be downloaded from iTunes here.
John Sadlier will play a fund raising concert at Whelan’s, Wexford Street, Dublin, on December 10, with all proceeds going to Age Action.
