Age Action and the ICA welcomes today’s decision by the Dáil to call for the changes introduced in 2012 to the State Pension system to be reversed.

Today’s decision will add to the growing pressure for pension entitlements to be restored to older people denied them by changes designed to save money at the expense of older people.

These changes have meant at least 37,000 older people, 62 per cent of whom are women, have been forced to live on reduced State Pensions, many experiencing great hardship.
