Age Action, Ireland’s leading advocacy organisation for older people, has appointed Mr John Church as its new Chief Executive. Mr Church took up the role on Monday of last week.
Prior to joining Age Action Mr Church was CEO of Arthritis Ireland for 12 years where he successfully grew that organisation into a nationally recognised charity providing important services for people living with arthritis, as well as establishing world-class research centres in university medical schools.
Anna McCabe, Chairperson of the Board of Age Action, said: “In addition to his time with Arthritis Ireland John brings a wealth of commercial and management experience from the private sector having previously held senior roles within blue chip companies such as The Coca-Cola Company and the Bank of Ireland Group.
“John joins Age Action at a positive time in our development and is ideally positioned to help guide us through the next stages of our growth as we strive to provide depth to our current services and to introduce more supports for our ageing population.
“We wish him every success in his new role.”
Expanding Age Action
Commenting on his appointment Mr Church said: “I am delighted to join Age Action and to have the chance to be part of a fantastic team of staff, members and volunteers working together to make Ireland the best country in the world in which to grow old.
“Together we will expand the range of services Age Action provides to older people while also ensuring that their voice is clearly heard by policymakers working to make growing old in Ireland a positive and fulfilling experience.
“I would like to pay tribute to the previous CEO, Mr Eamon Timmins, and to thank Chairperson Anna McCabe and the rest of the Board for this opportunity.”
